This environmental piece was created as a part of Mini Comp #13: Gateway to the Afterlife held at GameArtisans.org.  The competition specs allowed for 7000 tri and the equivalent of 2048 pixels by 2048 pixels of texture space that could be broken up as needed.   In total, this piece used twelve 512 x 512 maps and a single 1024 x 1024 map for the base. All of the textures were created using Photoshop CS 2.  They were made at true resolution using a combination of hand painting and photo manipulation techniques. Modeling was done in 3D Studio Max and Mud box. The normal maps were created using a mix of high poly modeling in Mud Box and Photoshop.
